We hold two main fundraisers every year, each with very different guests in mind
DIXON AWARDS
Each October, FOG celebrates the women and men who, through their actions, advanced the cause of government transparency and First Amendment freedoms by presenting them with the Dixon Award and holding a banquet in their honor.
The award honors First Amendment advocate and FOG co-founder William S Dixon, who died in 2003 but whose legacy lives on through these awards.
We will begin accepting nominations for the 2026 Dixon Awards in June. Keep an eye out here and on our social media
LEGAL EDUCATION
Every November, we hold an all-day continuing legal education workshop on transparency laws, featuring presentations by judges and experts. Attorneys get CLE credits, but members of the public are also welcome. We will keep you updated as we approach this year’s event.
